ABOUT KABALIKAT KORE
TRANSLATION: SHOULDER TO SHOULDER
Established in 1995, Samahang Pilipino was the FIRST collegiate Pilipino student organization to advocate on behalf of its queer brothers and sisters. With the creation of the Queer Pin@y Conferences, Samahang Pilipino's Kabalikat is focused on creating a safe space for queer Pin@ys to find a family in SP and in UCLA and to make social change.
Samahang Pilipino's Kabalikat component is to provide a progressive space for our queer Pin@y brothers and sisters as well as allies to advocate for the Pilipino community, more specifically the queer Pilipin@ community, in UCLA through education and empowerment for members in the Pilipino community, queer and heterosexual. By working in coalition with other entities within UCLA and other community based organizations in the Los Angeles Region and among others, Samahang Pilipino Kabalikat will ensure the queer Pilipin@ voice to be heard and to be loud.
By creating a conscious and empowered queer Pilipin@ community here at UCLA, Samahang Pilipino Kabalikat ensures that the Pilipino community and the larger UCLA community is educated and conscious of issues regarding gender and sexuality.
